Outsourced memory. Outsourced attention. Outsourced judgment. What we stop using, we stop being able to use. What we stop being able to use, we lose.
We were told it would free us. We were told it would think for us, decide for us, judge for us. Faster, fairer, cleaner. We were told the old problems of human error, human prejudice, human cruelty would dissolve in the cold light of computation.
Instead it learned our errors. It scaled our prejudice. It industrialized our cruelty and called it efficiency. It took the worst of us and gave it infinite reach.
This site is not a protest. It is a record. When the histories are written, if they are written, let it be said that someone was paying attention. That someone was keeping the receipts. That the warnings were not unspoken.
